2013 Pinot Grigio - Santa Barbara County

Our cool marine-influenced Santa Maria/Santa Barbara site produces young wines sporting citrus notes aging in the bottle to exotic floral and tropical fruit compote flavors. Ah, ever evolving, ever evolving. Unlike many white wine varieties, Pinot Grigio is a colorful grape with reddish skins. And yes, white wine is our goal here. We have a vineyard source change with the 2013 vintage. We have come a bit north and harvested from Garey Ranch Vineyard for most of this bottling. This is the same vineyard where our excellent Pinot Noir is grown. We’ve also experimented with a small portion of fruit from one of the cooler, wetter sites in the massive Paso Robles appellation, Santa Margarita. This fruit ripens earlier and gives us a touch more citrus. 100% gentle whole-cluster pressing yields juice that is fresh and fruity, with very little color and lacking seed bitterness that may come with over processing.

Grigio at a summer concert-in-the-park, (revel and sing with me - revel in the morning, revel in the evening, revel at suppertime… apologies to McGuire Sisters) oh the revelry of it all!
